OPIS Unveils PointLogic Energy, Hires New Leadership

Three notable industry executives picked to help lead re-launched oil and gas subsidiary of Oil Price Information Service.

Gaithersburg, MD, February 2, 2015 – Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) has re-launched its energy analytics subsidiary, LCI Energy Insight, with new leadership, a new name – PointLogic Energy – and new products, but with the same depth and quality of data.

PointLogic Energy delivers oil and gas supply, transportation and demand data and analysis online via clean, cutting-edge interfaces that dynamically relate data to digital maps and analysis. Its predecessor, LCI Energy Insight, was an 18-year-old business with a strong reputation for quality data and analysis produced by some of the industry’s top experts, all of whom continue with PointLogic Energy.

New Vice Presidents added to the existing leadership team include:

  • Jack Weixel who joins PointLogic Energy from Bentek Energy, where he was a director managing its North American Natural Gas, European Gas, and GIS business units in addition to serving on the company’s senior leadership team.
  • Charles Nevle, who also joins the team from Bentek Energy, where he was a member of the consulting group. His energy experience spans 18 years and includes roles managing analytics with NiSource and Boardwalk Pipeline.
  • Brian Stephenson, who has been in energy for 25 years, most recently as Vice President of Sales for Wood Mackenzie and, before that, Director of Sales for Bentek Energy, will lead PointLogic Energy’s sales efforts.

The new leadership will work closely with Vice President of Markets Luke Larsen and Vice President of Engineering John Uxer. Luke’s experience includes running the eastern region of Aquila Gas, the then third largest energy marketer, as Vice President. John is a veteran petroleum engineer who worked previously at some of the industry’s largest production companies, including Exxon and Kerr-McGee.

Randy Rischard, who has been working closely with LCI in his role as OPIS’s director of oil and gas, will become President of PointLogic Energy. Randy has a long history of starting and managing energy information companies and products, including some of the most successful businesses or products now owned by McGraw-Hill’s Platts, SNL Financial and Penwell.

“We are determined to be the best market fundamentals and analytics company in energy. We have invested heavily in this already very strong business and the addition of Jack, Charles and Brian help take us to the next level,” Rischard said.
